ADO-EKITI – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Ekiti has recruited 50 farmers for its Rural Agricultural Development Scheme.
Mrs Adeola Shafaru, the State Coordinator of the Directorate, gave the figure at the orientation programme the directorate organised for the beneficiaries in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
She said the farmers would be trained in piggery, snail keeping, agro-services and mechanization, as well as arable farming and fishery.
They would also receive training in food processing, preservation, storage and packaging, as well as enterprise management and business.
Shafaru said that after a month’s training, beneficiaries would be placed on two months’ practical attachment, based on each participant’s area of specialisation.
She said that on completion of the attachment, participants are expected to form cooperatives and produce feasibility and business plan for loan.
The coordinator urged all beneficiaries to be disciplined and hardworking to enable them to derive maximum benefit from the programme. (NAN)
