KANO – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kano State on Tuesday disbursed N2. 5 million to 50 persons trained in five specialised skills.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
The Director-General of the agency, Malam Abubakar Mohammed, said the training was to expose the beneficiaries to specialised skills to enable them be self-reliant.
According to him, the skills are interlock bricks production and fixing, electrical installations, GSM repairs, leather works and beards stringing.
NAN reports that the beneficiaries, who were from the Rogo Local Government, were trained under the Community Based Training Scheme of NDE.
“The skills are in some selected competitive, demand driven and emerging short term but marketable,’’ he said.
He said the Federal Government in its bid to combat unemployment, poverty, and hunger, had adopted multi-sectoral approach through the implementation of NEEDS and MDGs.
“This is targeted at reducing extreme hunger and poverty by 50 per cent by the year 2015,’’ he said.
The DG, who was represented by the state Coordinator, Alhaji Aliyu Bichi, said the beneficiaries had undergone a three month intensive training in five skills.
He urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the training to improve their standard of living and well being of other Nigerians. (NAN)
