Akure – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) said it has trained about 50 unemployed persons in poultry management, vegetable gardening and other crop production skills in Ondo State.
Mr Awokoya Olusegun, State Coordinator disclosed this in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Akure.
According to him, NDE has began the implementation of sustainable agricultural development training at its Agricultural Skills Training Centre (ASTC) in Mariwo, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Olusegun said that about 596 beneficiaries had undergone training in the same programme since inception of the scheme in the state.
He said that the gesture was part of the directorate’s renewed effort to meet the ever increasing challenges of job creation in the country.
“One month would be devoted to the theoretical training while the remaining two months would be devoted to practical training on attachment to reputable and relevant field of choice in agricultural farms or institutions,” Olusegun said.
