NDLEA arrests lady with multiple identities, recovers 296,000 tablets of drugs

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 36-year-old lady, Afam, and her partner, Peace Caleb, for smuggling 296,000 tablets of illicit from Anambra State Gombe state.

This was made known in a statement by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Wednesday.

According the statement, Afam and her 22-year-old accomplice, Caleb, both use multiple identities and wear evade security scrutiny, were arrested in Benue State on , when they tried to smuggle the tablets of Diazepam and Exol-5.

Afam is said to have used different names like Amina, Uzoamaka, and Ifunanya, in carrying her illicit acts.

“Their vehicle coming from Onitsha, Anambra state was intercepted along Makurdi Alliade road while heading to Gombe State via Makurdi,” the statement revealed.

Upon search of the vehicle, up to “43kilograms of Diazepam and 33kg of Exol-5, both weighing 76kg with a total of 296,000 tablets” packed in four large travel bags, was discovered.

According to the statement, both suspects have refused to remove their hijabs while taking pictures with the exhibits.

In similar development, NDLEA command intercepted a commercial rider, Olu Ameh, on Sunday, recovering 465 kilograms of along Ijagba-Ute road in Ose local government area of the state.

The suspect claimed that the substance was bought from Joseph in Ago-Akure, Akure North LGA and was being conveyed to the buyer, a certain Egbonwon at Ijagba village in Ose LGA.

Reacting to the two seizures and arrests, Chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd) commended the of the commands for their efforts and then to be vigilant at all times.
