LAGOS – A soccer buff on Wednesday urged the newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, to make rebuilding of the Super Eagles a priority.
Fan Ndubuoke, a former General Manager, Heartland FC of Owerri, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that having Pinnick was better than not having anybody at all.
His reaction was in response to the many crises that had dogged the association since the former board called for election in the executive committee.
“He (Pinnick) should be focused, while making the rebuilding of the Super Eagles a major issue to tackle.
“He should rewrite all the negatives that have been associated with the Eagles and dare to be the change maker.’’
Ndubuoke, who was also a former member of the association, said the Eagles as presently constituted was a disaster that needed urgent attention before things could get out of proportion.
“Pinnick must be concerned about making an impact.’’
According to him, Pinnick has got a good pedigree in sports and possesses what it takes to make the right impact.
“I don’t have any doubts at his capabilities because he’s someone I have known for a while and seen some of his handiwork,’’ he said.
He, however, warned that Pinnick should free himself from external interferences because such could only serve as setback to him.
“He should be himself and do things his own way and outsiders should not dictate to him about what to do and what not to do,’’ he said. [eap_ad_1] NAN reports that the election, which was held on Sept. 30 in Warri, were keenly contested by six persons from different geo-political zones.
Pinnick polled 25 votes to defeat five others, including Taiwo Ogunjobi, a former Secretary-General of the association from Osun, who had nine votes, Dominic Iorfa from Benue, six.
Others are: Amanze Uchegbulam from Imo, four, while Shehu Dikko from Kaduna and Mike Umeh from Anambra failed to get any votes. (NAN)
