Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Waziri Adio as Executive Secretary of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Bolaji Adebiyi, Director of Press, Office of Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), in Abuja on Tuesday
The statement said the President also approved the appointment of a new Governing Board for NEITI with the Minister of Solid Minerals Development to serve as the Chairman.
It said the appointment was with immediate effect; adding that Adio was a communication consultant and publisher of Metrolope Magazine until his appointment.
The statement said Adio had held various editorial positions in Thisday newspaper and had also served as Special Adviser, Research and Strategy, Office of the Senate President from Aug. 2003 to Oct. 2004.

It added that Adio had served as communication specialist with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), before proceeding to serve as Director of Communication, NEITI from 2007 to 2008.
The statement said Adio holds a B.Sc degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos in 1992 and M.Sc degree in Journalism from Columbia University New York in 1999.
It said members of the governing board included Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Group Managing Director, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, President, Miners Association of Nigeria and Representative of Civil Society Organisations.
Others are President, Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society, President, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas and representatives of the six geo-political zones. (NAN)
