JALINGO – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday donated relief materials to the Taraba Government for distribution to victims of the crisis in the state.
Mr Apollos Jediel, the Head of Gombe Operations Office of the agency, presented the materials to the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Garvey Yawe, in Jalingo.
Jediel said the Federal Government was concerned with the plight of the internally displaced persons in the state and assured them of continuous support.
He said the relief materials, which were in 16 trucks, include 1200 bags of rice, 1600 bundles of roofing sheets and 250 cartons of Omo detergent.
In his response, the secretary to the state government thanked the Federal Government for always coming to the aid of the state in times of trouble.
He said the state government was also making efforts on its own to alleviate the suffering of the internally displaced persons in the state.
Yawe appealed to the people of the state to eschew violence and embrace peace for the progress of the state.
It will be recalled that crisis erupted in Southern Taraba and some parts of Central Zone recently leading to loss of lives and property. (NAN)
