Yola, Demsa (Adamawa) – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday gave relief material to about 700 households recently affected by flood in Adamawa.
NEMA’s Director General, Mr Mustapha Maihaja said that the distributed items were meant for communities across five Local Government Areas affected by flood in October.
Represented by the agency’s Operation Officer in charge of Adamawa and Taraba, Mr Abani Garki, the DG said that the communities are in Demsa, Numan, Lamurde, Mayo-Belwa and Ganye Local Government Areas.
According to him, the relief materials comprises of food items, building materials and clothes among other items.
Dr Muhammed Suleiman, the Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) thanked the Federal Government for the intervention.
Suleiman enjoined the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items, adding that they were not meant to be sold.
Mrs Trinity Charles, a beneficiary from old Demsa Ward, who spoke on behalf others also expressed their gratitude to the Federal Government for the gesture.
Charles said that they lost all their belongings to the flood and had been fortunate to be accommodated by the neighbouring village.
