Gusa – The Eze Igbo of Zamfara State, Igwe Egbunna Obijiakwu has urged Nigerians to intensify the need for peace, unity and love to one another in order to move the country forward.
Obijiakwu made the call in a New Year message whicg was made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Sunday.
He stressed the need for Nigerians irrespective of religious and political inclination must unite and support our leaders for the country to move to a better position.
He described the outgoing year (2017), as a year of progress to the Igbo community association in the state, as it reconciled its over 20 years leadership dispute and expressed optimism for a better 2018.
“For over 20 years the leadership of Igbo community in the state was divided but God’s in his mercy, with the intervention of the leaders of Igbo community from the 19 northern states, we resolved all the misunderstandings in August this year.
“We consider it a great achievement, because without unity we cannot achieve our good aims and objectives,
“Igbos are peace loving, business oriented people, therefore we like peace better than anybody, we are ever ready to cooperate with any government, organisation or individual to promote development of our dear country”, he said.
He emphasised on the need for unity to succeed in any family, association, society or country, while urging Nigerians to work together to move the country forward.
“We all know the challenges we are facing in this country and without cooperation and support to our leaders we cannot succeed in tackling them,” he said.
He commended President Muhammad Buhari, Zamfara state government and security agencies for their efforts at addressing security challenges in the state in particular and country at large. (NAN)
