World governing body, FIFA has warned Nigeria for the umpteenth that it would be suspended from all footballing activities if Chris Giwa does not rescind his position as president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Nigeria will be suspended from world football on Monday 8 September at 07:00 GMT if Chris Giwa does not give up his claim.
FIFA issued the ultimatum after categorically stating again that it does not recognise the election that brought Giwa into management on 26 August.
The ban will only be lifted when the NFF board as it stood on 25 August, with Aminu Maigari as president, are allowed back to office and fresh elections held for a new NFF committee as soon as possible. [eap_ad_2] The final deadline was decided by FIFA’s emergency committee on Wednesday after an initial date of 1 September passed without Giwa stepping aside.
If the ban comes into force on Monday it means Nigeria would not play their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 10 September against Bafana Bafana in South Africa.
Nigeria were banned from global football for nine days in July for government interference in the running of the football federation when Maigari was forced out of his post by a court ruling.[eap_ad_3]
After his reinstatement, he was voted out of office by the NFF’s executive committee a few days later. However, Fifa did not accept this and Maigari was once again back as president in August.
