ABUJA – Tammy Danagogo, the Minister of Sports, on Tuesday in Abuja assured that there was light at the end of the tunnel regarding the crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Danagogo, who spoke with newsmen at a reception for the Super Falcons, said he was in talks with both parties and was hopeful of a positive outcome.
“I have been having series of meetings with all the parties involved and I can assure you that we are making progress.
“Naturally, we should be scared about the impending FIFA ban because there are matters still in court, but we are hoping that we will be able to persuade both parties to withdraw the case.
“I have said it repeatedly that the parties involved must withdraw the case from court, embrace dialogue and arbitration. It should be a matter of `give and take’ so that we can move forward.
“I think they (the actors in the crisis) are beginning to understand the need for peace and reconciliation as they have been holding talks with each other and hopefully when we meet again tomorrow (Wednesday) we will see positive results,” he said.
The minister, however, urged all parties as well as sports-loving Nigerians to forget about all the problems in the county and enjoy the glory of the Super Falcons victory.
“Let all of us leave all those issues and embrace this moment. This is a great moment for our dear Super Falcons and the country. So, we must give the girls the attention and honour they deserve.
“I am sure that after we are done with them by tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon, we will be able to get all pending issues sorted out,’’ he said.(NAN)
