ABUJA – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board on Tuesday in Abuja lifted the 10 year-ban imposed on Victor Baribote, the proprietor of Nembe City Football Club of Bayelsa, and three others.
Emeka Inyama, a member of the NFA board, told newsmen after their meeting that the 15-year-ban on Taiwo Ogunjobi would also be lifted once his case against NFF was withdrawn.
Inyama, who read the meeting’s communiqué to newsmen, also said the ban imposed on Jarrett Tenebe, a former NFF vice-chairmanship aspirant, has also been lifted.
The board also lifted bans imposed on Olaleye Adepoju, a member of its board, and Olajide Fashikun, the publisher of an Abuja-based publication, Gong News.
“After exhaustive deliberations, the committee unanimously decided to lift the ban of various lengths placed on these members of the Nigerian football family.
“The ban on a former member of the NFF board, Taiwo Ogunjobi, will be lifted once he has withdrawn his case from the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
“Other banned persons will have their cases reviewed as soon as they appear before the committee,’’ Inyama said.
He said the lifting of the ban meant that Adepoju would immediately retake the Chairmanship position of the Oyo State Football Association and his seat on the board of the NFF. The meeting also reaffirmed the suspension of Chris Green and Yusuf Ahmed from the NFF board, pending the ratification of the General Assembly.
Inyama also said the Chairman of the NFF Appeals Committee, Eddy Mark should appear before its Ethics and Fair Play Committee to give explanation to some allegations against him.
“The Fair Play committee has Ikechukwu Obidike as Chairman, with Shehu Adamu, Effiong Johnson, Ayodeji Tinubu and Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande as other members,’’ he said.
The NFF board led by Aminu Maigari had banned Baribote and Ogunjobi from all football activities for 10 and 15 years respectively.
Tuesday’s meeting, which was chaired by NFF Acting Chairman Mike Umeh, was attended by seven other board members, including Musa Amadu, the NFA Secretary-General.(NAN)[eap_ad_3]
