NGASKI – The Ngaski Local Government Area in Kebbi said it spent N18 million on the construction of rural roads to enhance socio-economic activities in the area.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Muhammadu Wara, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Wara on Monday that N12.5 million was spent on the construction of the Lopa-Garin Ngaski road while N5.5 million was spent on Rafin Kwaida – Libata road.
Wara said that the other road projects undertaken by the council were Garin Mamuda – Ngaski and Garin Chipiram -Tungar Mairuwa.
“The provision of the roads has assisted farmers in evacuating their farm produce to major markets,” he said.
He said that other amenities provided by the council in the area included water schemes, health centres, dispensaries, power supply and township roads in Wara and Ngaski.
“The council also provided 50 hand-pump water schemes to some rural settlements in the area, in addition to the 100 boreholes provided by the state government,” Wara said.
He said the council also procured boats for transportation in the coastal part of the area, adding the boats would generate revenue to the council. (NAN)
