Garaku (Nasarawa State) – A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), One Love Group, on Tuesday donated foodstuff, soap and detergents to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and patients in selected hospitals in Nasarawa State.
The leader of the women group, Mrs. Christiana John-Mamman, presented the items during a visit to Dadin Kowa IDPs camp, Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
“We decided to donate the items to displaced persons and and patients to improve on their standard of living.
“Our concern is to reduce the plights of the displaced persons because we cannot turn our face and allow them to die of hunger and poverty,’’ she said.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
John-Mamman appealed to displaced persons to continue to embrace peace despite their challenges.
Responding on behalf of the displaced persons, Mrs. Unity Titus, thanked the group for the gesture and called for its sustenance.
“Some of us came far away and were displaced as a result of the Boko Haram crisis in Borno. We called on wealthy individuals to come to our aid to improve on our standard of living,” She said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items distributed include Rice, Maggi cube, salts, and soap and detergents, among others. 9NAN0
