Lokoja – A Non-Governmental Organisation, Care Fountain Nigeria (CFN) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Bolanle Amupitan, on how to empower Kogi women and youths.The NGO said one of the reasons for the visit was to intoduce the organisation to the ministry, to enable them work with women and youths.She explained that the first beneficiaries of the empowerment programme will be Kogi and Kaduna.Tema Agere, Chief Operations Officer, CFN, explained that the organisation intended to establish mutual relationship between it and the people.“The organisation has carried out its findings to know the areas of need in the states, it discovered that Kogi was a good place to start the development project,” she said.
The Chief Operations Officer said that the role of the NGO was to oversee the empowerment activities and not to impose any idea on the people, while the organisation will need the support of the state and the ministry to acheive success, the activities and programmes will be financed by foreign organisations.Responding, Amupitan on behalf of the Gov. Yahaya Bello, assured the NGO of the support needed and expressed joy knowing that Kogi was among the selected states to benefit from the gesture.The commissioner, however, urged the CFN to endeavour to engage the ministry in all their activities, while the organisation will be supported by all stakeholders.
