Abuja – The Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), an NGO, on Tuesday urged Kano State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to include the rules and regulation of Hajj in its enlightenment programme.
This is contained in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
According to the statement, educating intending pilgrims and Hajj officials on step-by-step process of the Hajj rituals as well as Hajj regulations would create the much needed awareness for a smooth conduct of Hajj exercise.
The statement also advised that professional communicators be included in the enlightenment programme in order to fast track the level of understanding on the part of pilgrims.
The organisation further reaffirms its commitment in ensuring that adequate and proper needed information was given to pilgrims as at when due.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“The roles of information are very crucial to the success of Hajj exercise.
“Therefore, we shall continue to pressurise the relevant Hajj authorities to imbibe the culture of information consciousness within the legal framework of Hajj exercise in the country,’’ the statement added.
However, the organisation commended the board for appointing more than 400 Islamic scholars to enlighten the state intending pilgrims ahead of the 2015 Holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
“We appreciate the efforts of Kano State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for recruiting 400 Islamic scholars spread across the 44 registration centres in the state to educate and enlighten 2015 intending pilgrims,’’ it said.
The statement said that the programme, which was conducted on weekly basis, was making desired impact on the intending pilgrims.
This, it described as a panacea to a successful conduct of annual Hajj exercises in the country. (NAN)
