ABUJA – Mr Kolewole Banwo, Senior Programme Officer, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, an NGO, has called on the Federal Government to engage stakeholders in policy formulation and implementation.
Banwo made the call during a Stakeholders’ Strategy meeting organised by the NGO in collaboration with the Federal Public Administration Reform Programme on Friday in Abuja.
He said involvement of stakeholders in such activities would serve as a platform for dissemination of information about government projects, activities, achievements and challenges to the people.
According to him, many reforms and policies are being implemented by government that many Nigerians are not aware of.
He added that many resources had been wasted due to lack of proper coordination of government agencies.
“A lot of reforms and policies are ongoing, lots of government establishments are not well coordinated; their duties are overlapping and resources are being wasted,” he said.
He, however, called for sustainability of existing policies and their implementation, adding that citizens should also be adequately enlightened about them.
Also speaking at the meeting, Dr Otive Igbuzor of African Centre for Leadership Strategy and Development, an NGO, called on government to support citizens to exercise their rights.
He called on government to ensure effective service delivery, as well as collaborate with stakeholders, such as Civil Society Organisations, for proper implementation of policies. (NAN)
