ILORIN – The National Institute for Freshwater Fisheries Research (NIFFR), New Bussa, on Thursday said that it was ready to partner with any institution or funding agency that could help to develop its research findings.
The NIFFR Executive Director, Okaeme Augustine, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that the institute could accommodate advanced technologies and research collaboration.
Augustine said that collaborations to build capacity and thus add values, competitiveness and efficiency as well as commercialise its findings for industrial and small scale entrepreneurship were welcome.
On the ongoing 6th Kwara National Agricultural Show, he said it provided an opportunity to link up farmers and chemical companies together, enlighten them on what to apply at the right time.
He explained that this was an opportunity to also link up with stakeholders and to ensure innovation.
“It is a forum to connect all stakeholders where you introduce innovation; you meet who to buy your market and where to sell it.
“It is a meeting point where how to apply new technology is reached.
“The idea behind the 6th Kwara National Agricultural Show 2014 is the desire to work in line with the Federal Government agriculture policies.
“These policies are to boost food production and encourage farming in all states.
Augustine added that the show would also create opportunities for small scale agro-allied industries in the rural areas and educate farmers on value additions to their farm produce for local and international market. (NAN)
