Jos – Mr. Joshua Madaki, the Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to eschew violence and give peace a chance, as the nation marks it’s 58th independence.
Madaki, in statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Philip Asten, on Monday in Jos, also called on the people to be tolerant.
“As we mark our 58th Independence anniversary, it is pertinent for us to remember with pride that we have come a long way in our struggles of enthroning democratic values for the benefit of the people.
” I enjoin us to see ourselves as brothers and tread the path of the legacies and sacrifices bequeathed by our leaders, driven upon the pinnacle of equity, justice and fairness.
“I call on all fellow citizens of Nigeria and Plateau in particular to give peace a chance.
“Let’s love one another, eschew violence and embrace the path of peace and progress for our great state, ” he Speaker said.
