Lagos- Aruna Quadri, the 2014 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Male star player, on Sunday assured that Nigeria would spin surprises at the African Senior championships.
The 2015 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African Senior Championships is scheduled for Cairo from Jan. 23 to Jan. 29.

Quadri told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone from Cairo, Egypt that the ranking by the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) which placed three Egyptian players ahead of Nigeria, does not matter.
“I think the ranking released by the ATTF is normal because we hardly feature in international tournaments and the more tournaments you play, the more points you gain.
“The three Egyptians ranked before the Nigerian players usually participate in tournaments and I think they deserved to be ranked in the first three.
“But the ranking means nothing much to us, Nigerian players, and my compatriots because nothing is impossible against high-ranked players. We are going to give our best,” he said.
Quadri, however, expressed optimism that Nigeria would win medals in all the events, stressing Nigeria was a good contender for medals at the tournament.
“I can not really say for sure how many medals we will win but I know that Nigeria will win medals in all the events.
“Our team is a good contender for medals here; we are already showing them the stuff we are made of” he added. (NAN)
