Nigeria still in control of Gwoza – Military

Nigeria still in control of Gwoza – MilitaryThe Defence Headquarters has denied claims credited to the leader of violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, that the terror group  had established a Caliphate in the North East.

In a post on the Twitter handle of the Defence Headquarters on Sunday, the military said it was firmly in control of Gwoza, a town in Borno State that Shekau claimed had come under its control.

The Boko Haram sect said it had hoisted its flag there as a sign of the establishment of its Caliphate. The claim, made in a new video, said the sect was extending its control of the North East. But the Defence Headquarters said in the tweet:[eap_ad_2]

“The claim is empty. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nigerian state is still intact.

“Any group of terrorists laying claim to any portion of the country will not be allowed to get away with the expression of delusion and crime.

“Appropriate military operations to secure that area from the activities of the bandits is still ongoing.”[eap_ad_3]
