LAGOS – The Secretary of the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Chinedu Ezealah-Ogundare, on Monday said that Nigeria would participate in the African Senior Table Tennis Championship in Sudan.
The championship is scheduled to hold from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21.
Ezealah-Ogundare told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Nigeria’s preparation for the tournament was in top gear.
“This competition is aimed at selecting qualifiers to world cup.’’
She said that players would soon be called to camp, ahead of the championship.
“We would soon call the players to camp to enable us select the best among our female and male players, who will represent Nigeria at the championship,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Chief Coach of the NTTF, Bello Nosiru, said that players were already in open camp as part of their preparation for the tournament.
“We would commence an intensive training and close camp soon towards our preparation for the competition.’’
Nosiru said that home-based players would join their foreign- based counterparts for the tournament.
He, however, said that the federation would organise classification seminar for the para-table tennis players this year.
Nosiru said there would be competitions for the para-table tennis players in 2015. (NAN)
