Abuja (Sundiata Post) – As Nigeria turned 64 October 1, 2024, a Philanthropist Nigerian based abroad, Osinigwe Ezenwanyi Vera Ikokwu, has congratulated fellow countrymen urging them to be patient and resilient in the time of difficulties.
Ikokwu who is the Chief Executive Officer, Heavenly Elderly Charity Arena (HECHARENA), an NGO piloted to cater for the elderly in Nigeria, appealed to citizens to remain optimistic of the country’s collective future, despite the present situation.
“This is why, today, I call on Nigerians to reflect on the past achievements of the country, particularly the contributions of the founding fathers towards achieving independence and building a united country.
“The present generation of Nigerians should ensure that the labour of our past heroes will not be in vain; everybody must work to realize the lofty heights that our founding fathers envisaged for the country” she said.
Ikokwu added that Nigeria remains a country that possesses all the necessary factors for achieving greatness.
“What is important is for the present generation, both the leaders and the followers, to work for the unity of the country and place the country first before their interests”.
She continued: “By the time we are celebrating our 65th anniversary next year, I believe that we will be witnessing a new chapter in the history of the nation when we will be happy that our country has overcome its setbacks and is heading towards achieving sustainable development.
“To our men and women on the frontlines protecting our country: I pray for God’s protection over your lives. May you all achieve decisive victories against our nation’s adversaries.
“May Almighty God save and bless our dear country, Nigeria. Happy Independence Day to all Nigerians”, she said.
