Abuja – In its bid to elicit more public support for the military operations across the country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), has launched an initiative known as `see something, say something.’
A statement issued by Air Commodore Dele Alonge, the Director Public Relations and Information of the force in Abuja, said the programme was also designed to create more security awareness.
The statement said the pilot launch of the programme took place in Yola, Adamawa State.
It said the programme was launched at a security sensitization lecture organised for residents of Yola.
“The objective is to get the civil populace to share information with security agencies or report the activities of suspected persons or members of the Boko Haram group to NAF officials or security personnel.
“The initiative recognises the collective role and responsibility of the people, military and civil alike, in fighting terrorism.
“It is thus a new approach by NAF to enhance the effectiveness of the on-going counter insurgency operation in the North-Eastern part of the country.’’

The statement said the public is expected to be actively involved in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.
According to him, members of the public are to help spread the message by educating the younger ones with a view to bringing all hands on deck to defeat the terrorists.
He said the emphasis the need for the civil populace to be more security- conscious and to report observed suspicious behaviours to security forces. (NAN)
