Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Nigerian air force has lost one of it’s helicopters in a combat with Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday.
In a statement by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) signed by Ibikunle Daramola, Air Commodore Director of Public Relations and Information, the helicopter was lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.
According to the statement, “the mission was part of the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East. ”
The Nigerian air force also noted that the details of the incident, which occurred about 7:45 pm yesterday, 2 January are still scanty but would make details of the crash known to the public, as soon as they are available.
