ABUJA – Nigerian is carrying out an internal investigation into shooting of unarmed protesters in by soldiers.

The Nigerian minister of defence mentioned the investigation at a media conference in the capital, Abuja.

He declined to give details, but said the outcome would be made public as soon as possible.

The attorney general, Abubakar Malami, who also at the conference, revealed they hadn’t seen an operational order sanctioning the shooting.

He suggested the shots could have been fired by criminals dressed in camouflage, or the footage might have been doctored.
