President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, insists that Nigerian coaches must be assisted if the various cadres of national teams are to be consistently competitive.
Pinnick, who took the reins of Nigerian football on September 30, believes the country is blessed with extravagantly gifted footballers who can make the national teams amongst the strongest in world football.
The NFF chief says plans are underway to create “a technical study group” which would help national team coaches spot and nurture precocious and prodigious talent.
“The coaches cannot do it all and this administration (of the NFF) realizes that.
“We are going to create a technical study group under the technical committee (of the NFF) that will go round this country.

“For every quarter, say about once every three months, we will identify young footballers between the ages of 15 and 20 years of age,” Pinnick said on a television programme monitored by supersport.com.
Pinnick added that the players would subsequently be ferried to European leagues to continue their football education.
“We will continue monitoring the progress of these players. They will be taken to developmental league in Europe after they are spotted in Nigeria.
“I am talking about leagues in countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Danish leagues where they will be taught the rudiments of the game.
“The aspect of sports science will also be applied to these players and the results will be massive for Nigerian football,” he said. (supersport.com)
