ABUJA – A Veteran Artiste Manager, Dili Biosah, on Friday said the Nigerian film industry had failed to develop as what was being produced in Nigeria were not films, rather home videos.
Biosah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that most of what was made in Nigeria and considered films were not up to the standard of what was usually exhibited.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
He said that even in the film festival in Ouagadougou (FESPACO), Nigerian films were not being exhibited because they did not measure up to the standard.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
Speaking on the Nigerian entertainment arts industry, he said there was a rot in the entire industry,[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″] which had also affected the audio-visuals industry.
“The audio-visual industry is one that seems to have made a lot of progress but is in reality, lagging behind.

“As a professional, I cannot say truthfully that there is that manner of progress in the industry; every industry deserves some hype but in reality, in story telling and presentation, yes, there is a lot of progress.
“But if you are making films, you will be asking of where you would be exhibiting it.
“Our films are not exhibited in FESPACO, which is even our own regional exhibition because they are not speaking the language of the film makers; they are not making films’’.
He said what was being done in Nigeria could be compared to the home video American kids had been doing for ages.
He also said that Nigerian film makers would have to answer to their professional colleagues for any work they submitted.
The artiste manager said that such professional colleagues would query the format on which the film was shot and would also be interested in other technicalities film makers look at.
Biosah said he had retired from active artiste management to exclusively manage his daughter and also engage in the audio-visual industry in Nigeria. (NAN)
