A new NCDC report via its official website via a pie chart has shown that the total of Nigerian men is higher and doubles the total number of women who have tested positive to the prevailing virus.
A pie-chart on COVID-19 Situation Report released by NCDC on June 7, 2020 revealed on the Gender demographics on the spread of infections shows that of Nigerian men with 8,386 (67%) are more infected with COVID-19 which doubles the number of women most affected persons 4,100 ( 33%) and that the number of most affected persons is between the age range of 31-40 years (25%) with 345 (3%) fatalities from 35 states including the FCT.
So far Nigeria has not less than 12,486 current cases 8,173 current tested in 26 activated laboratories set up across the country.
Meanwhile Nigeria has marked its 100 days since the index case of Coronavirus surfaced in the nation. Speaking at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 a briefing in Abuja Nigeria, Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire confirmed that Nigeria has marked the 100 days since the index case of Coronavirus surfaced in the nation.
Ehanire said, ‘We have began more aggressive tracking and testing and increased our laboratory network capacity from 5 to presently 30 molecular laboratories.
COVID-19 first surfaced in Nigeria on 27th of February 2020 and it has affected over 100 countries across the world with over 6 million persons affected and 300,000 deaths, NCDC reports.
The frontline health agency has further reinforced the need for everyone to wear face mask at all times in the public or even inside their homes and to observe respiratory hygiene , wash hands regularly , use hand sanitizers and adhere to physical distancing.
