A recent survey conducted by Ipsos on behalf of Google reveals that Nigerians are among the most enthusiastic adopters of artificial intelligence (AI) globally.
The study, titled “Our Life with AI: From Innovation to Application,” surveyed 21,000 people across 21 countries, including Nigeria.
Key findings highlight that 70% of Nigerian respondents reported using generative AI in the past year, far exceeding the global average of 48%. Additionally, 87% of Nigerians expressed optimism, believing that the benefits of AI outweigh its risks.
The survey also shows that 81% of Nigerians anticipate AI will positively transform the economy, while 90% believe it will drive significant advancements in science and medicine. These figures place Nigeria among the top nations in terms of AI adoption and positive sentiment.
Kent Walker, President of Global Affairs at Google, stated, “AI is starting to deliver magic at scale, making people’s lives easier and better. Today’s survey results show the more people use these tools, the more excited they get about the possibilities and about the personal, professional, and scientific breakthroughs on the way.”
The findings also suggest Nigerians see AI as a tool for personal and professional growth and are optimistic about its potential in boosting productivity, improving healthcare, and fostering innovation.
The survey underscores Nigeria’s growing embrace of AI and highlights the country’s enthusiasm for leveraging its transformative potential across various sectors.
