Lagos – A nightclub employee, Gerald Nduonye, who allegedly stabbed a colleague with a broken bottle on the head, on Monday appeared in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Nduonye, 25, who resides at No. 2 Oloja St., Somolu in Bariga area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.
According to Police Prosecutor Friday Mameh, the accused committed the offences on Sept. 2 at 4.00 a.m. at Ouilox Night Club, Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Mameh said Nduonye had wounded the nightclub bouncer, Olatunde Oladapo after stabbing him on the head with a broken bottle while he was trying to separate the accused and a customer during a fight.
The prosecutor also alleged that the accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The offences contravened Sections 168 (d) and 246 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr B. I. Bakare, granted the accused N400, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and adjourned the case until Sept. 24 for mention.
