BIDA, (NIGER) – The Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA) on Wednesday urged the Niger State Government to redeem its pledge of N5 million made to the association for the hosting of the 2014 Games.
The Secretary-General of the association, Mr Bartholomew Dalap, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bida, that in spite of the state not releasing the amount, the Games had so far been a success.
Dalap explained that the association relied on funding from the host institution and participating schools for the organisation of the Games.
According to him, the Federal Government also supported the organisation of the competition through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) with the construction of the basketball court.
Dalap said that TETFUND gave N70 million for the construction of the Indoor Sports Hall and Basketball Court.
He said that the expectations of the orgainsers of the Games had not been misplaced as the standard of performance had been high. (NAN)
