ABEOKUTA (Sundiata Post) – The Comptroller of the Ogun State Immigration Service (NIS), Grace Adeoye, on Monday announced that the command had deported 22 illegal Beninoise nationals residing in the state.

Adeoye made this known during her visit to the Ogun State House of Assembly in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

She emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Immigration Service and the state government to effectively clear the state of illegal immigrants.

She urged the Assembly to support the agency’s efforts in maintaining the security and peace of Ogun State, particularly in areas close to the borders.

In response, Speaker Oludaisi Elemide expressed the Assembly’s commitment to the ongoing collaboration with the Immigration Service.

He acknowledged the important role the agency play in promoting peace and security across the state and commended the recent reforms in the issuance of Nigerian passports, while noting the significant improvements in the process and other services provided by the NIS.

Other members of the Assembly, including Wahab Haruna, Fola Salami, and Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, also lauded the Command’s achievements.

They called for more proactive measures to curb illegal activities by some foreign nationals, especially in border communities, to bolster security in those areas.
