He said the measure was a fulfilment of his promise to the IDPs when he visited the camp last week in company of the Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau.
Abeshi, represented by the Adamawa state Command Comptroller of the service, Mr Ubi Ikpi, said the machines were meant to enhance training of IDPs in the camp.
He urged the IDPs to make maximum use of the opportunity provided them by government and NGOs in areas of entrepreneurship training.
“This is to enable you find the needed footing to pick up your lives ones again when you get back to your respective communities.
“This gesture by the service is based on its belief that teaching the IDPs how to fish is better than giving them fish continuously.”
The NEMA official in charge of the camp, Mr Halilu Ahmed, lauded the service for the gesture and urged others to emulate it.
Ahmed said NEMA would ensure the judicious use of the machines and for the purpose intended.
Chairman of the IDPs in Malkohi Camp, Mr Nicholas Simon, thanked the service for making good it’s promise, adding that the gesture would go a long way in encouraging more IDPs to join the skills acquisition training in the camp. (NAN)
