NMA Donates Relief Materials To Remand Home In Zamfara

Gusau, – The Nigerian Medical association (NMA), Zamfara chapter, on Friday, donated food and non food items to Gusau remand home.Speaking during the presentation of the items, the state NMA Chairman, Dr Sanusi Bello, said the donation was part of activities to mark the 2022 Physicians’ Week.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the week is “Health Care Delivery System and 2023 Democratic Transition, The Time to Change the Narrative.”Represented by the Vice Chairman, Dr Ibrahim Jibril, the chairman said the NMA is marking the 62 Physicians’ Week all over the country.

He added that “this is part of our annual activities where we offer charity to vulnerable groups in the society.

“We came to this facility to visit our children, remanded for minor offences.”

According to him, the relief materials comprise rice, palm oil, toiletries, cosmetics, among others.

Responding while receiving the items, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Social Welfare and Community Development,
Dr Habibu Yelwa, commended the association for the visit and the donation, describing it as a welcome development.Yelwa said “Zamfara Government appreciates this visit; I am happy to tell you that Gov. Bello Matawalle is aware of this visit.“This is the first time workers’ association is visiting this home.“We are hoping to see more of this visit from stakeholders to complement government’s efforts in changing the lives of these children.”The immediate past NMA Chairman in the state, Dr Mannir Bature, called on the inmates to take their studies seriously.(NAN)
