NNL: Insurance FC beat First Bank FC 2 -1

Benin – Hosts Insurance Football Club of Benin on Thursday defeated First Bank FC of Lagos 2-1 in a week 11 encounter in the 2014/2015 Nigeria National League (NNL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the encounter which took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium saw Insurance scoring two goals within the opening 32 minutes.

Steven Osuma scored the first goal of the match in the seventh minute when he converted a cross from a teammate.

Chukwunoso Agu increased the tally in the 32nd minute.

First Bank FC got a consolatory goal through Alalade Wasiu in the 38th minute when his shot was deflected by one Insurance FC defender into his own net.

Both teams however played with caution in the second half and this did not allow any of the sides to penetrate each other’s defence for more goals.

The result has now placed both teams on 17 points each, behind rivals MFM FC of Lagos.

MFM FC are ahead of them on the log with 19 points with three matches to the end of the NNL season.

Insurance FC now have two away games and one home match to determine whether they would gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).(NAN)
