Abuja – Sokoto United Football Club has been reinstated into the Nigeria National League (NNL), the league’s Secretary, Lawrence Katken, said on Friday in Abuja.
In a statement, Katken said the management of the club had finally complied with NNL directives.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NNL had earlier asked the club to clear its administrative problems with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The league organising body had said the club must clear itself before it could be allowed further participation in the 2014/2015 league season.
“Only recently, the NNL Board Chairman, Emeka Inyama, confirmed that Sokoto United will not be part of the competition when the league resumes this weekend because of its failure to do the needful and on time too.

“But now the management of Sokoto United FC has allowed reason to prevail as it has now complied with directives of both the NFF and NNL.
“It will now return to the pitch this weekend when the league’s second round begins,’’ Katken said.
He said officials of Sokoto United had arrived at the NNL secretariat at their FIFA Goal Project office inside the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium.
“They came with a letter from the NFF directing us to reinstate Sokoto United,’’ the NNL secretary said.
Katken however disclosed that all the outstanding matches of Sokoto United would be rescheduled for the team at a later date.(NAN)
