The NNPC has pledged to continue to sponsor its annual national quiz competition among secondary school students to encourage science based subjects.
This was contained in a statement issued by the acting Group General Manager, Public Affairs of the NNPC, Ms Tumini Green, on Sunday in Abuja.
Green said that the NNPC was committed to encouraging science subjects in secondary schools through its annual quiz competition.
She said that preparation had been concluded for the grand finale of the competition to hold between Nov. 18 and Nov.19.
“This year’s finalist are drawn from Akwa Ibom, Abia, Abuja, Ogun, Sokoto and Bauchi States.
“They are expected to compete in English language, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and general knowledge,” she said.
According to her, the NNPC will also continue to do all within its power to make Nigerians to benefit from the abundant hydrocarbon resources in the country.
She said that there were lots of efforts to support this commitment.
The statement said that the various Strategic Business Units of the NNPC had also pledged to continue to donate laboratory equipment and books to schools in their areas of operations.
