The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) have donated medical equipment to the Benjamin Olowojebutu Foundation (BOF) to support healthcare services in underserved communities.
This initiative will enable BOF to carry out nearly 5,000 fibroid and hernia surgeries, as well as provide dental care for an additional 5,000 people across the South-West, North-Central, and South-South regions of Nigeria.
SNEPCo’s Managing Director, Roland Adams, emphasized that this partnership aligns with the company’s commitment to social investment and improving healthcare accessibility. Speaking through the Health Manager and Transformation, Dr. Ajike Oladoyin, Adams reaffirmed SNEPCo’s dedication to enhancing medical services in areas with limited healthcare facilities.
Oluwaseyi Omotowa, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), represented by Deputy External Relations Manager Edith Lawson, highlighted the significance of the donation.
“This contribution reflects our commitment to corporate social responsibility and NNPC Ltd’s dedication to strengthening healthcare delivery in Nigeria. It supports our broader goal of fostering sustainable development and empowering communities nationwide. We recognize the challenges faced by healthcare providers, and we hope this donation helps ease those burdens and improves healthcare efficiency,” Omotowa stated.
Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, head of BOF, expressed deep appreciation for the donation, noting that it will be instrumental in upcoming medical outreaches scheduled for Kwara (North-Central), Ekiti (South-West), and Ebonyi and Bayelsa (South-East and South-South).
NNPC-SNEPCo and its co-venture partners, including Total Energies, ExxonMobil, and Nigeria Agip Exploration, have a history of impactful social investments. Their initiatives have supported internally displaced persons in the North-East, rebuilt hospital wards and schools, awarded scholarships at various academic levels, and provided cancer treatment equipment.
Last year, more than 6,000 individuals benefited from the NNPC-SNEPCo Vision First eye care outreach in Bariga, Lagos State. The program also included donations of medical equipment to health centers and charity homes in Badagry (Lagos State) and Oguta (Bayelsa State), further demonstrating the group’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services across Nigeria.
