LAGOS (SUNDIATA POST)- The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service says no casualties were recorded in the fire outbreak that occurred in the nursing room of Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital, Lagos.

Its Director, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, in a statement on Thursday, said the fire had been successfully extinguished and an investigation was ongoing to unravel the cause of the fire.

According to her, the fire was reported at 3:20 p.m. and was quickly brought under control, preventing significant damage to the busy healthcare facility.

“The incident was contained to the room where it originated.

“Normal operations have resumed, and medical services to the public continue uninterrupted,” Adeseye said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the nursing room is situated on the second floor of the main three-storey building of the hospital.

The fire incident caused panic among the patients and relatives, leading many to call out for help on the streets and on social media. (NAN)
