Akure – The National Working Committee of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) says there is no division in the party.
Mr Bade Falade, SDP National Vice Chairman, South West, said this while addressing journalists during the conduct of the governorship primary on Thursday in Akure.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governorship election election in the state would hold on Oct. 10.
Falade, who led other SDP leaders to conduct the primary, said the party remained determined to save the country from its current security and economy challenges.
He also said the party’s leadership was in the state in line with Nigerian constitution and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)guideline that every political parties must conduct primary election.
“For avoidable of doubt, we as a party(SDP), we are here to fulfill the righteousness to elect our own candidate that will bear the flag of the party for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
“Our delegates are on ground from all the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
“Let me use this opportunity to let the people of the state know that as a party we are one, there is no form of faction or iota of destruction within the party.
“SDP is one in Nigeria and in Ondo State, there is no division in SDP and we are ready to win the Oct. 10 governorship in Ondo State.
“Prof. Tunde Adediran is the party’s National Chairman and other officers are helping him to move the party forward.
“In Ondo State, we have caretaker committee in place headed by Dele Ogunbameru,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Oke Idawene, Chairman of the SDP in Delta, said that the party was prepared to form the government in Ondo State by winning the gubernatorial election.
“We are ready to give Ondo State indigenes the alternative and to correct anomalies of the present government,” he said.
Idawene appealed to any aggrieved member to embrace the party’s reconciliation committee.
Other national leaders in attendance at the forum were the state chairmen of Ebonyi, Edo, Ogun, Kogi, Rivers, Osun, Lagos, Adamawa and Akwa-Ibom.
