Budapest – FIFA President, Gianni Infantino on Tuesday said he would not propose a candidate for the position of general secretary at next week’s congress of the ruling football body in Mexico City.
Infantino said at the congress of Europe’s body UEFA, that he would stick to his plan and decide the matter “this summer’’.
He said that he had a few ideas who could qualify for the important position.
According to reports, FIFA president can propose a candidate, but the general secretary is picked by the new FIFA council which replaces the executive committee as part of a reform programme.
The Swiss Infantino, who was elected in February, had so far only said that the general secretary should be from outside Europe.
