Uyo -The Divisional Police Officer of Ukanafun Divisional Headquarters in Akwa Ibom, Mr Friday Mkpa, on Thursday, vowed to deal decisively with perpetrators of crimes in the local government area.
Mkpa, who made that statement at a meeting with Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in the area, called on critical stakeholders like village heads, youth leaders and political office holders, to be part of the struggle.
He said they should not hesitate to report suspected criminal activities in the area.
While calling for maximum cooperation between the people and police for effective policing, the DPO said he had established good relationship with commercial motorcycle riders and youth leaders for effective partnership.
“We are determined to protect lives and property within our coverage and we will do all we can to ensure that there is no hiding place for criminals.
“We will leave no stone unturned in fighting crime and criminality in the state.’’
He commended members of PCRC for their contributions and sense of partnership, adding that due to the existing cooperation, crime was reducing in the area.
Earlier, the Chairman of the PCRC in Ukanafun, Mr Namnso Idiong, said membership into the committee was voluntary but maintained that the privileges were numerous.
Idiong, who urged stakeholders in the area to consider being members of the PCRC, pleaded with residents in the area to cooperate with the police for a secured environment.
He said cooperation was needed between the police and the people because it was difficult for the police to work effectively without information. (NAN)
