Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Jos Electricity Distribution Company, (JEDC), has said it is putting an end to part payment of electricity bills by 1st of November 2024.
The illumination company said the policy is as a result of soon to be commenced a 100 per cent electricity supply especially for the Band A customers.
It said the new directive has also become imperative with the introduction of “feeder management system and bilateral arrangement”.
“There will be nothing like partial payment for consumed energy going forward. All monthly bills must be settled in full”, a statement signed on Thursday by the Jos DisCo’s Spokesman, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, said.
Our correspondent reports that a Feeder Management System (FMS) is a technology-based solution used by utilities and power distribution companies to manage and control the distribution of electricity across their network. The primary goal of an FMS is to optimize power distribution, reduce energy losses, and improve overall grid efficiency.
“Under the new scheme, customers are expected to enjoy a qualitative supply of electricity in consonance with their bands uninterruptedly as robust mechanisms have been put in place by the Management aimed at customer satisfaction”, the statement continued.
Elijah added that about seventy-six feeders that are on Band A have been selected for the scheme, and adequate arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted power supply to customers in those feeders as dictated by the Band A schedule of electricity supply just as customers must be required to pay for their consumed energy 100 per cent.
“In addition to ensuring that energy is delivered to customers unhindered, JED would be saddled with the responsibility of billing postpaid customers, fostering collaboration and teamwork that would lead to customer satisfaction in their feeders.
“While the company will be delivering energy to its customers 100 per cent, customers would be required to pay for their consumed energy in full.
“To this effect, the feeder Management staff have been adequately equipped to ensure that only customers who are not in default in payment for their consumed energy would be the only ones to enjoy electricity supply as all defaulting customers will not be allowed to be on supply”, Elijah said.
