ILORIN – Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State said on Tuesday that his administration had no plan to forcefully take over any school from any organisation or individual.
He said this in Ilorin at an interactive session with stakeholders in the education sector.
The governor said that developed nations spend huge amount of money on education to secure the future of their youths.
He said that he was more concerned about the way the education sector was being impacted on. [eap_ad_2] Ahmed said the private sector was expected to drive the system while government monitors progress.
The governor said education was compulsory for every citizen of the state to a certain level, adding that investment in the sector meant investment in humanity.
Ahmed urged organisations and individuals willing to continue to manage schools under them to write the state government.
The governor promised to set up a committee to separate assets from liabilities if any of such development occurs, adding that the body would then work out the modalities for handover.
The governor said a bill had been submitted to the state Assembly to review the 2006 Education Law.
He assured the forum that any part of the law which was not in compliance with the existing law would be removed.
The governor, who said the future of the youths in the state must not be adversely impacted on by politics, urged stakeholders to separate religion from education. (NAN) [eap_ad_3]
