Dange Shuni – The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has cautioned the electorate in Sokoto State against vote buying and selling as well as political violence before, during and after the rescheduled polls.
Alhaji Maude Danchadi, the state’s NOA Director, made the call on Thursday at a sensitisation campaign held at Dange Market in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the campaign was tagged: “Say No to Vote Buying, Selling and Violence’’.
Danchadi said the sensitisation was part of the NOA’s mandate, stressing that the objective was to increase the awareness of Nigerians.
He said the campaign was targeted at mobilising the people towards the general elections, to prevent vote buying and its negative effects on our democracy.
The NOA director emphasised the need for a peaceful conduct of the election and called on the people to shun vote buying, vote selling and other forms of violence.
The District Head of Dange, Alhaji Bello Usman, thanked the NOA for its effort in educating the people on their rights as Nigerians.
