Enugu – Mr Isaac Onukwube, the Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Enugu State, on Wednesday urged Nigerians to help the Federal Government check corruption in public office.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu, Onukwube emphasised that the ongoing fight against corruption is a collective responsibility of Nigerians.
“There can be no doubt that the present leadership needs support.
“Indeed, the people are the back-bone of the government.
“If the leadership is not supported, how will it work?
“Buhari cannot be a lone ranger; all that he is doing is what is required to be supported.

“The fight against corruption is what is on the front burner now and you could see that government is making progress.
“Until now, we never knew that certain things happened, but the revelations we are getting are an eye opener.
“Therefore, what the leadership needs is support – support from the people, support from institutions – so that the change mantra of this present government is realised.
“And of course there is no other way the change mantra can be realised until people come to support him (Mr President).
“We support him by doing what is right.
“If there are revelations to be made, people, who are suppose to bring our money that are stolen, they should bring it back and we will ensure we have transparency and accountability in the system.
“This present government more than ever before, more than any other government requires the support of all Nigerians to ensure that our economy improves, our politics improves and of course unemployment level is reduced.’’
According to him, corruption has stripped the country of its good image in the international community.
He stated that the phenomenon has led to a situation whereby many citizens have been denied their fundamental rights.
The director said that the citizens would be freed from poverty and hunger if corruption were to be eliminated. (NAN)
