Bauchi – The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Bauchi State government to provide hand sanitisers in schools and work places to enhance personal hygiene.
A statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday indicated that the initiative would promote healthy living by preventing outbreak and spread of diseases among communities.
Alhaji Nuru Kobo, the state Director of NOA, appealed to traditional and religious leaders to intensify efforts at enlightening their subjects and congregations on the need for them to observe respiratory hygiene.
He also stressed the need for people to maintain social distance of, at least, one metre between persons coughing or sneezing as well avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with contaminated hands.
The director assured that government at all levels was making frantic efforts to prevent the spread of the disease and such other infections, stressing that there was no need for panicking.
He urged the general public to stay informed and adhere to the advice offered by experts, other healthcare personnel and social mobilisers, stressing “we will continue to intensify efforts on proper mobilisation and enlightenment against infectious diseases.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government was making concerted efforts towards promoting healthcare delivery services across the 20 local councils in the state.
