Abuja- The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) said on Tuesday, that plans were in the pipeline to ensure the country excels at the 2015 All Africa Games and the 2016 Olympics.
Habu Gumel, President of the NOC told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the executive committee’s meeting on Tuesday.
He said that the various federations have been instructed on what to do.
NAN reports that the 2015 All Africa Games is scheduled for Congo Brazzaville between Sept. 4 and Sept. 19.
Meanwhile the 2016 Olympics will take place in Rio de Janeiro Brazil from Aug. 5 to Aug. 21.
Gumel said efforts were been made to ensure funds were released on time for the preparation of athletes for the various competitions.

“We have the All African Games coming up this year as well as the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.
“These are some of the issues we discussed and we are working to ensure that athletes resume camping early.
“Most of the athletes have started training on their own through the various sports federations.
“There are so many other things which we discussed,’’ Gumel said.
According to him, the Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo will be briefed on their plans and resolutions for the various competitions before announcing it to the public.
He said effort would also be geared toward ensuring that the country surpassed its previous record at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo and the London 2012 Olympics. (NAN)
