Latest governance poll results released by NOIPolls Limited has shown that 61percent of adult Nigerians surveyed approve of the President Good luck Jonathan’s performance for the month ofAugust 2014.
This rating (currently being at par with the rating obtained in January 2014) represents a 1-point drop from July’s rating which was recorded at 62perent.
An assessment of the President’s performance on key elements of his Transformation Agenda revealed that the President received an average (3) rating in his performance on Job Creation, Power, Economy, Education, Health, Agriculture & Food Security, Transportation and Foreign Policy & Diplomacy except for Security which he performed poorly.
Still based on the Transformation Agenda, the month of August saw a push in the President’s performance on Power and Economy to an average rating (3) following a continuous poor rating since February 2014. More findings revealed that slightly more than half (51percent) of adult Nigerians experienced an improved state of power supply to their households within the past one month. This figure illustrates the highest positive rating recorded in power supply from the inception of the NOIPolls power monitoring polls in January 2013.
These results represent the eighth in the 2014 monthly series of governance polls conducted by NOIPolls to gauge the opinions and perceptions of Nigerians regarding the approval rating of the President, the performance of the President on key elements of his Transformation Agenda, and thestate of power supply in the country.[eap_ad_2]
Respondents to the poll were asked three specific questions on the performance of President Goodluck Jonathan over the past one month; his performance on pertinent elements of the Transformation Agenda; and the state of power supply to Nigerian households over the past month.
The governance poll results have revealed that 61percent of adult Nigerians surveyed approved of the President’s performance, 26percent disapprove of it while 13percent remained neutral as they neither approved nor disapproved of his performance.
In addition, the President had an average (3) rating in terms of his performance in Job creation, Power, Economy, Education, Health, Agriculture & Food Security, Transportation and Foreign Policy & Diplomacy except for Security which he performed poorly. More findings revealed that slightly more than half 51percent of adult Nigerians surveyed reported improved power supply in their areas which represents a substantial 18-point increase in improvement on power supply in August from July 2014 and the highest positive rating ever recorded in power supply in 2014. On the contrary, 32percent of the respondents were of the view that power supply “remains bad” and “it’s very bad, has gone worse” in their areas.
The opinion poll was conducted in July 21st 2014 through telephone interviews of a random nationwide sample comprising of 1,000 phone-owning Nigerians aged 18 years and above, representing the six geopolitical zones in the country.
“With a sample of this size, we can say with 95percent confidence that the results obtained are statistically precise – within a range of plus or minus three percent,” the company assured.[eap_ad_3]
